Original tree calf; several working charts loose as issued; a used copy with a working history.

Corbould’s manual was written to be carried, not admired, and this copy shows it: the original tree calf is scuffed at the corners, and several of the folding charts are loose in their gatherings exactly as issued, meant to be consulted rather than bound flat and left unopened.

Ownership notes in a contemporary hand appear on the rear pastedown recording a ship’s name and a set of dates, the kind of working provenance this material rarely keeps once it passes through a nineteenth-century rebinding — this copy never did.
